On December 21, 2022, Fredericton Police Force’s Drugs and Organized Crime Unit, assisted by Street Crimes, Patrols, Forensic Identification Section, and the Integrated Drug Enforcement, executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant in Fredericton, N.B,
Jason Clarence Martin, 51, of Fredericton, N.B., was arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking and is facing two weapons-related charges and six CDSA charges. He was arrested following a surveillance stop on the city’s southside.
Items seized include a firearm, $1900 in cash, methamphetamine, cocaine, oxycodone hydromorphone, clonazepam and alprazolam.
Martin is charged with the following:
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order (.22 cal loaded)
Sec. 117.01(1) CC - Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition (.22 cal loaded)
Sec.95(1) CC - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking to wit: methamphetamine
Sec. 5(2) CDSA (sch. I) - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking to wit: cocaine
Sec. 5(2) CDSA (sch. I) - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking to wit: oxycodone
Sec. 5(2) CDSA (sch. I) - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking to wit: hydromorphone
Sec. 5(2) CDSA (sch. I) - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking to wit: clonazepam
Sec. 5(2) CDSA (sch. IV) - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking to wit: alprazolam
Sec. 5(2) CDSA (sch. IV)
Martin appeared in court Dec. 28, 2022 and was remanded until his next court date of Jan. 11, 2023.
Thanks to the investment from other levels of government, including the Province of New Brunswick’s Integrated Drug Enforcement plan, law enforcement agencies are continuing to combat drug-related crime.
