Grease star Olivia Newton-John dies at age 73

Sad news if you grew up singing and reliving the happy days of 1978’s Grease alongside beloved character Sandy.

After a 30-year-battle with breast cancer star Olivia Newton-John has passed away at the age of 73.

Her husband shared the news on Monday in a post on Instagram.

“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer,” the post says. “Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the @onjfoundation.”

She starred in the iconic movie opposite of John Travolta. Movie lovers have been singing along to the film’s hits for years like “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “Beauty School Drop Out,” and “Greased Lightnin’.”

The singer-songwriter and actress also starred in the hit Xanadu. 

Newton-John also had much success as a music artist winning four Grammy awards. She also had five number-one hits and 10 top-ten hits.

You’ll remember her voice from hit tracks like 1982’s “Physical” and 1973’s “Let Me Be There.”
