Snowbird Goes Down in B.C.

One of the Canadian Snowbirds has crashed in northern British Columbia.

The aerial aerobatic team has just performed at an airshow in Fort St. John this past weekend.

Officials with the airshow posted on Facebook that Tuesday’s accident happened around noon local time, with the plane going down shortly after taking off from the North Peace Regional Airport.

The city of Fort St. John noted that its fire department, with RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services, were called to what it described as an “aviation incident.”

By the time city firefighters arrived, a fire was extinguished by the airport’s fire department.

No injuries were reported.

The accident comes more than two years after a fatal crash in Kamloops.

A public relations officer was killed, while the pilot sustained serious injuries after ejecting from their plane was apparently struck a bird upon takeoff.

The Snowbirds were scheduled to perform in Penticton on Wednesday and in Abbotsford this weekend.
