The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has been asked to investigate an altercation between a man in custody and four RCMP officers last month.
A release states the 51-year old man was arrested at around 10:30 p.m., June 29th, under the Intoxicated Person Detention Act, and was transported to the cell block at the Shediac RCMP detachment.
Investigators say the man was described as agitated and aggressive, and was placed in handcuffs and leg cuffs.
Police say an altercation ensued between the man and four RCMP officers while he was being moved to the cell area, and one member suffered a non life-threatening injury.
No injuries were reported by the man in custody.
The RCMP says the matter has been referred to SiRT, and an officer has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
