The temporary suspension of pediatric services at Chaleur Regional Hospital has been extended by a week.
In a release Wednesday afternoon, Vitalité Health Network says services will remain suspended until 8 a.m. on August 8th due to a shortage of nursing staff.
Officials say the shortage of nursing resources “is currently exacerbated by the summer period, the pandemic and staff burnout”.
People who require pediatric care are asked to go to the Emergency Room, where situations will be treated on a case-by-case basis, and may be redirected to another facility.
The Network says obstetrical services at the hospital are not affected by the service suspension.
