Sussex man charged with assault, attempted arson, in connection with a series of incidents

A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with three incidents in the Sussex area, including aggravated assault and attempted arson.

Police say the first incident was the theft of fuel from an area gas station on July 11th, then a suspicious fire at a property on Route 111 in Jeffries Corner two days later.

On July 18th, RCMP responded to a break and enter on Elmview Avenue in Sussex where a man was reported to have been assaulted inside his home and went to hospital with serious injuries.

Thomas Quinn Doiron was identified as a person of interest in all three incidents and he was arrested on August 2nd at the intersection of Park Street and O’Connell Avenue in Sussex.

A 24-year-old woman was also arrested at the scene, and later released pending a future court appearance.

Doiron is charged with aggravated assault, break and enter, uttering threats, attempted arson, theft under $5,000, and driving while prohibited.

He appeared in Saint John Provincial Court on August 2nd and 4th, and is scheduled to return to court on August 22nd.

The RCMP say they’re investigating whether other recent incidents in the Sussex area may be connected to the current investigations.
